Everything I Own

2025

Audio recording, scent, fragrance diffuser

Everything I Own is about the sense of bread. Bread has historical resonance across civilizations and cultures. From the Egyptian civilization, where laborers constructing the pyramids were paid with bread. To China’s Three Kingdoms period, when legend attributes military strategist Zhuge Liang to have invented the mantou. To modern-day France, which was built on the foundation of having bread accessible to all. Bread is also the name of a 1970s rock band. And in today’s lingo, bread connotes money. How do we reimagine our associations with an object that is so close to intergenerational sustenance and development? What could be manufactured, replicated, enhanced and even replaced? What feeds us, what do we feed?
