Chow and Lin are an artist duo, a married couple, and two independent individuals — Stefen Chow and Huiyi Lin. They collaborate closely in both life and art, but hold different worldviews. For them, dialogue and communication have always been crucial, both in their creative work and in their intimate relationship and family life.
In 2021, Chow and Lin recorded a 12-hour conversation. During that dialogue, the 41-year-olds shared their perspectives on love, personal value, identity, art, truth, and justice—themes relevant to the individual and society—at that stage of their lives. They decided to continue this dialogue for the next forty years, stopping when one of them passes away. Their dialogue is not just an intimate narrative between partners, but also a social metaphor about communication, understanding, and differences.
Four years later, they invite the public to join this conversation in a four-hour performative format. At a timed interval of every hour, they would invite the audience to join the dialogue. During the process, there may be unpredictable emotional outbursts, brief moments of separation or rest. This is an open, unknown, authentic exchange during which truths and vulnerabilities may be exposed or resolved.
“Lost Contact” is a public discussion project centered on love, relationships, and belonging, focusing on how interpersonal connections have become both diverse and fragile in a highly mobile and technologically pervasive world. The project focuses on how intimacy is being reshaped within gender structures, social classes, and technological media, as well as how people explore new relationship practices amidst real-world pressures and emotional needs.
